School Medical Information
Administration of Medicine
Ysgol Maes Hyfryd has a comprehensive “Administration of Medicine” policy and it is very important that school is informed of any medical condition your child has which may affect their time in school.
All medication given during school time must be agreed with the school nurse and the appropriate documentation put in place. Medication must be sent into school in the original packaging detailing the pupil’s name, medication name and dosage. Changes to the health needs or medication requirements for your son /daughter must be discussed with the school nurse immediately.
School medicals are held at the school in a morning and are attended by a community paediatric doctor.
An appointment will be sent to you, the parent, from Child Health department.
If you are unable to attend, permission can be given for the medical to go ahead without you following a telephone interview or the date can be rearranged to suit you.
Most pupils will have a school entry medical in the year they transfer to YMH and a school leavers medical in the final year. Medicals will be arranged on a needs led basis in between.
Julia will arrange home visits with any parents who have health concerns about their child in school.
School also offers an immunisation programme for MMR1, MMR2, Meningitis ACWY, Year 9 boosters and HPV vaccination.
Our School Nurse Julia Griffiths is based full time at Maes Hyfryd and for any enquiries in regards to the health of your child please contact her on 01352 792725
