Communicating with Parents
Positive Parental Engagement Home School Books / Planners
Communicating well with parents and careers is essential.
For specialist SEN schools, parental engagement is a key priority, as each pupil has their own specific needs.
In our school we aim to have clear and effective communications with all parents/carers and with the wider community. Effective communications enable us to share our aims and values, through keeping parents well informed about school life. This reinforces the important role that parents play in supporting the school.
Good communication between the school and the home is essential, and pupils achieve more when schools and parents/carers work together.
Pupils in all classes have a home-school diary/ planner. This enables parents to record a wide range of information that they wish to share regularly with the teacher. Teachers use the home-school diary to record achievements, and as a regular channel for communication with parents.
- ClassDojo is a free app that helps build amazing classroom and school communities. Teachers give feedback to students for any skill, like “Working hard” and “Being curious.”
- From the mobile app, parents view their child’s feedback, message directly with teachers and school leaders, and see beautiful photos and videos of classroom moments.
- Posts canfeature text posts, pictures and video clips of the day’s events, as well as linking through to key statutory details and sending reminders about the rest of the school week.
Newsletters contain a valuable insight into all the activities pupils in school do on a daily basis. Each class contributes to the newsletters. Information from Heads of Department is shared and parents are kept up to date with information twice a term.
Newsletters will now be available on this website. Parents with no internet access can request a paper copy from the main office.
