Remote Learning

During the Coronavirus pandemic families had to adapt in many ways because of the restrictions in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Restrictions will be in place for some time and every family will be managing their own circumstances differently to meet their needs.

During this time your top priority has to be your family’s safety and well-being. You may want to support your children’s learning and the ways you are able to do this may depend on your family situation. Parents and carers are using many great and imaginative ways to help balance priorities of working, caring, supporting learning and general family life, on a daily basis.

As you can imagine, providing provision for teaching and learning remotely has presented a certain number of challenges for us and for you, our wonderful families.

As a whole school community, we have worked hard to establish different ways of working to ensure we are successful in achieving our objective, to provide continuity of learning for all our pupils.

We are confident that each class now has established routines and procedures in place that allow pupils to access and complete work that has been provided for them, both electronically and practically.

Personalised Learning

Online Learning Portal - Hwb

https://hwb.gov.wales/

All pupils have access to the online learning portal for Wales - Hwb. We have sent home user names and password so pupils and families can access the range of learning tools and resources as and when required.

Each class has made their own arrangements which include the use of Hwb Classes, J2E and Microsoft Teams. Please check with your child's class teacher if you are unsure.

Hwb Classroom is a great way of providing online learning to pupils. Teachers have created fantastic interactive playlists which combines different media to engage pupils with their learning.

Purple Mash Virtual Learning Environment

Purple mash has amazing interactive resources and programmes for pupils to use both at school and at home. Teachers are able to view the work pupils have done and provide feedback.

Lots of webinars to explain how it works, follow their YouTube channel.

Class Dojo

All pupils have Class Dojo which is a brilliant online learning resource. It is great for communicating with parents and keeps parents up to date with the latest news. It allows staff to share pupils work, photographs and videos of the work they do in the classroom. Individual portfolios allow staff to put differentiated activities that meet pupils' needs. Communication via private messaging allows both school and home to keep in daily touch and share information.

Pupils who may struggle with learning online will have activities and work sent home on a regular basis.

We appreciate how difficult it is to balance everything you do at home but we are here to support you, don't hesitate to contact your class teacher for any more information.
